Design to Meet and Move

Did you know that the neighborhood in which you grow up, your parents’ income, and your level of education play a significant role in how healthy you feel? In neighborhoods perceived as less promising by authorities, people, on average, have ten fewer healthy years. This is a remarkable insight, but it also presents opportunities. In this community, we aim to gain insights into how professionals can encourage people to adopt healthy behaviors. How can we design people’s living environments to influence their behavior positively and potentially improve their lives?

In collaboration with the lectoraat Smart Health, you will conduct research on how to contribute to reducing the pressure on healthcare. Additionally, we will take action together with you. We will design for meeting and movement. This means that in this community, you will find projects that involve creating and designing products. These projects could revolve around the community center in Deventer: https://huisvandewijk.com/ building apps for physical activity, or providing actionable perspectives for healthcare professionals to actively participate in designing various living environments to address the issue of health promotion.
