Water Technology: Without water there is no life!

Clean water for all is the most important challenge on earth that cannot be solved individually. Water knows no borders. It floats as clouds between continents and flows in rivers between countries. Water pollution is a major problem that affects us all, and it’s crazy to think that even tiny bits of plastic can be found in the most untouched parts of the world because of it, so let’s raise awareness and take action to protect our waters for the future! Clean water for all requires us to work together on both local and global scale and with experts from many different fields. Are you motivated to make a difference?

Without water there is no habitable environment, no food production and no energy(transition). Quality and quantity of available water sources have an immense impact on flora and fauna, hygiene and health. The way water is available and handled in our current society is very unbalanced. In the Netherlands, for example, we flush our toilets with drinking water while in other parts of the world this kind of water quality is nowhere to be found. Climate change is influencing the course of water cycles, with longer periods of drought and heavier rain showers, highlighting our dependency on water.

We are Research group (chair) International Water technology (IWT) and work closely together with you, our students, industry and governmental partners both locally, regionally and (inter)nationally. Our focus is on solving the challenges within the Water-Energy-Food-Environment (WEFE) nexus. Our approach is to train and mentor you in your professionalization and raise awareness as we all work together within our projects creating tangible impact

Important fields of expertise are water treatment processes, pollution detection, civil engineering and building technology, monitoring and sensoring, data mining and machine learning, life cycle assessment, circular business models and storytelling/media & communication.

Join us and help maximize the (re)use of locally available water sources for a sustainable future!
