Investigation of the Smart Function of Polypyrrole

Polypyrrole is an unusual molecule and possesses a number of properties (unusual for polymers) including conduction of electricity and radiation absorption and reflection. In addition to medical applications (electrodes for treating Parkinson’s disease), it is also used to protect wood from weathering.

Because Polypyrrole conducts electricity, it can be used in combination with wood to measure, for example, the moisture content in the wood. In addition, there are numerous possibilities to explore for using polypyrrole for smart applications. We want to know what possibilities there are for the application of polypyrrole for smart and sensoring applications.
