Online Community Connected Youngsters

Bison code: L.28242

Connected Youngsters is a national platform started by former clients of Nidos who are now over 18. Nidos is the national guardianship institution for unaccompanied refugee children. Unaccompanied minors came to the Netherlands without their parents when they were younger than 18 years old. Our aim is to offer a network to rely on when youngsters turn 18. When unaccompanied minors turn 18, they no longer have the support of a professional guardian, even though they still miss their family to rely on. Moreover, most youngsters have only lived in the Netherlands for a short period of time (1-2 years). They have to survive on their own in a relatively unknown environment. The Connected Youngsters have been in the same position. We have experienced the lack of a social network that can advise you in practical matters, such as finances, insurances, etc.. Peer support can help youngsters with these issues from an equal position.

Our ambition is to create an online network where youngsters can meet each other, support each other and build a greater social network in the Netherlands.

How can we form this online community? (which platforms/apps/websites are applicable? Which means are necessary? How can we reach participants?)
